In the book Maniac Magee it has a theme of segregation, in the book Jeffrey Magee his parents died and is forced to live with his aunt and uncle and they hate each other. They have 2 toasters 2 fridges 2 beds 2 etc.  Jeffery one day left out of frustration to the east side were he meets Amanda and gets a book from her. Once returning the book to the address he got Amanda's mother offers to give him a ride home. Once realizing he is homeless she insisted on adopting him and getting pizza to celebrate horribly He Is Allergic To Pizza!!! Sone kids started to come to him with knots in their toys and things Amanda realizing his skill told him about cobble's knot the untieable knot working for hours and completing that knot there was a riot people screaming and cheering confetti but Jeffrey realized that's Amanda's book! So he left running after her and the last thing she told him leave me alone.
